My mare is barefoot and aside from regular trims and good nutrition, the most important part of keeping her feet healthy enough to go without shoes is Premo Equine’s hoof butter. The large tub is economical and practical. I appreciate that as messy as the barn and grooming kit can be, this product doesn’t contribute to it (no leaking, etc). I also appreciate that it can be applied with a sponge, or brush. We’ve had good results using while her feet are dry, or wet which helps me as a busy working mom who doesn’t always have time to wait until her horse is 100% dry in the summer.
Aside from a thrush product very infrequently during very wet months this product has been a solo staple every season. We started using in spring of 2022 and my mare has less chips, dryness, and her feet are in beautiful condition.
It’s a keeper as long as we’re able to purchase. Hope this becomes more mainstream and others are able to discover this diamond in the rough.

Premo Equine Hoof Butter is a game changer in the hoof care world. It’s like it heals the hoof wall and nail holes in shod horses, replenishes the lost protection due to gluons, wet/dry environments, and is an extra protection with antifungal properties to the every day hoof. I’m never one to write reviews but I absolutely LOVE this product!! My horse’s feet have never been better and my farrier is in love with it too! He always asks me if I’ve been using this product. It also smells really good! I won’t use anything else on my horse’s feet! Highly HIGHLY recommend!!
